Julius Caesar-Duet Acting

Calpurnia is begging Caesar to not go to the Capitol. They are at their house and this occurs on the morning of the Ides of March, which is the day the soothsayer had warned Caesar. The night before, there had been strange omens in a terrible storm and Calpurnia is also concerned and frightened by her dream of Ceasar's death (fountain of blood).

CALPURNIA
What mean you, Caesar? think you to walk forth?
You shall not stir out of your house to-day.
CAESAR
Caesar shall forth: the things that threaten'd me
Ne'er look'd but on my back; when they shall see
The face of Caesar, they are vanished.
CALPURNIA
Caesar, I never stood on ceremonies,
Yet now they fright me. There is one within,
Besides the things that we have heard and seen,
Recounts most horrid sights seen by the watch.
A lioness hath whelped in the streets;
And graves have yawn'd, and yielded up their dead;
Fierce fiery warriors fought upon the clouds,
In ranks and squadrons and right form of war,
Which drizzled blood upon the Capitol;
The noise of battle hurtled in the air,
Horses did neigh, and dying men did groan,
And ghosts did shriek and squeal about the streets.
O Caesar! these things are beyond all use,
And I do fear them.
CAESAR
What can be avoided
Whose end is purposed by the mighty gods?
Yet Caesar shall go forth; for these predictions
Are to the world in general as to Caesar.
CALPURNIA
When beggars die, there are no comets seen;
The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.
CAESAR
Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard.
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.

Re-enter Servant

What say the augurers?
Servant
They would not have you to stir forth to-day.
Plucking the entrails of an offering forth,
They could not find a heart within the beast.
CAESAR
The gods do this in shame of cowardice:
Caesar should be a beast without a heart,
If he should stay at home to-day for fear.
No, Caesar shall not: danger knows full well
That Caesar is more dangerous than he:
We are two lions litter'd in one day,
And I the elder and more terrible:
And Caesar shall go forth.
Significant
This passage shows Caesar's personalities. Even though his wife, Calpurnia told him not to leave the house, he refused her, and said that he is not a coward, who is afraid of Calpurnia's dream. It also shows Caesar's public and private self. Caesar decided to stay at his home, because he gets convinced by the omens, which shows he was little concerned about it. But when he is out, in public, he shows that he is very powerful and the great leader.

How Do I Learn Best?

Today, we found out our own dominance factor. My profile was 'L', who have difficulty when they're under-stressed.
I learn best when I have a good condition because, if I'm not, I usually get stressed out easily, so I don't start, or finish my work. I also do best when I spend my time in a quite place, where I can think and study. If I stay in a distracting room, I can't focus well in my assignments. I also work best when I walk around while I'm working. However, my parents think that I'm not studying, if I walk around, so it is hard for me to concentrate. I also need to maintain my condition. It always has to be relaxed because if not, I won't be able to do anything.
I think I need to control my emotions because that's what my parents always told me and I always feel that I should. I can't complete my work when I can't control my emotion. I think I also need to do some activities to help me. For example, I should do the 'lazy 8', and also blink while doing something that make my eyes tired, or write and drawing with non-dominant hand.
The strategies that would help me to learn are, to sit quite myself and do whatever I can do because I can focus and do everything when I'm in a quite place. I think I should do something art related, such as music, drawing because those activities will make my feelings calm. My strategies are to keep my feeling high and calm.
I would like my teacheres to know this about me is that I can't learn anything when I'm really stressed. It happens when I have so many homework and tuitions. I always finish my homework before I have dinner because after dinner, it is my own time to keep my emotion calm and happy. So, I can't have so many homework.

Brunelleschi

I believe that Brunelleschi's creative leadership most prompted Brunelleschi to succeed in the construction of his masterpiece. His creative leadership most prompted because he might not had a chance to get supported if he wasn't so creative with explaining his dome. Brunelleschi went to the assembly, and asked people to make an egg stand by itself, people couldn't. However, Brunelleschi made an egg stand by itself, which made people to think that Brunelleschi had some ideas, not just crazy. If Brunelleschi wasn't creative enough to explain his dome, he never could have convinced people. Which means that he might not have got any chances to make his dome.

Where do new ideas come from?

Everyone has some ideas in their head. But ideas aren't just from our head. They are from others. I think new ideas come from our environment. I always got my new ideas from my stuffs on desk or somewhere in my house. When I look at something, like some kind of patterns, I mix the pattern with other patterns that I saw it before. Also, I got ideas from my friends and family. My mom is the one who gives the most ideas to me. But I always mix my mom's ideas with my ideas. My family give me a lot of ideas when I ask them. Ideas that you have might be yours but I think most of the ideas are from our environments.

Thank You M'AM - What makes a good story

In my humanities class, we read three different stories and my favorite short story was "Thank You, M'AM". The characters in the story were very unique. Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones, the large woman has a different characterization compares to other woman character. She is very large, and also very strong. It is funny when she hold up the boy, Roger, and shook him. However, she has a kind personalities not like how she acts like. Also. Langston Huges, the author of the "Thank You, M'AM", gave good message. The author told us that when we act kind to others and teach the wrong and right to them, they will be a better person. I think good messages and character make a good story.

My Name-DoHyun Park

Do you like your name?? I used to hate my name when I was young. My name is not unique but not a common name either. 'DoHyun' is a boy's name in Korea. People think that I'm a boy before they even see me. I got stressed out because of my name. When I was young, I really wanted to change my name to my favorite cartoon character's name. So I always begged my mom to change my name to 'MiNa' which was my favorite cartoon character's name. It's kind of embarrassing because 'MiNa' is like a fairy tale name in Korea. My friends also teased my name. They said I'm a boy. For my nickname, my friends call me 'Do Park'. 'Do Park' means gambling in Korean. I got hurt because My name was boy's name. So one day, I asked my parents, who named my name, why they named me such way. My father told me that he named it. He named my name as DoHyun because DoHyun means grow brightly in Chinese. Now I really love my name because I think DoHyun is a perfect name for me.

The myth ‘Hercules’ is about Hercules’s journey. Hercules was a mortal but he was an half-god. He was the son of Zeus (the god). However, his mother was a mortal. He was the prince of Thebes. He was really strong and he has a lot of enemies. One of the enemies was Hera. Hera was the wife of Zeus. She hated Hercules because he was one of Zeus’s sons. When Hercules was young, Hera tried to kill him. She sent her snakes and ordered them to kill Hercules but Hercules killed them. She also made Hercules to kill his family. He felt so guilty after he killed his family so he went to King Eurystheus of Argos to be his slave. King Eurystheus gave him 12 tasks and the tasks were very difficult. Human couldn't do the tasks. But Hercules finished all of his tasks. He killed the Hydra, a lion, cleaned the farm that was really dirty and others. Hercules solved his problem without complaining.
